The Trulli case

With the Williams seat been taken its now time to focus to the last two that are available. The one at HRT is pure down to money where van de Garde is the one and on the pole position and Karthikeyan is trying to make a last minute attempt. The other is the seat of Trulli at Caterham.

Just a couple of thoughts … Read the part of the Lotus F1 announcement on Raikkonen that states : "Lotus Renault GP is pleased to announce that Kimi Raikkonen will race for the team next season". Now read the one of RBR on Webber : "Red Bull Racing is pleased to announce that Mark Webber’s contract has been extended for another year, meaning the Australian will continue to drive for the team in 2012". And finally have a look at Williams : "Williams F1 today confirmed that Bruno Senna will contest the 2012 FIA Formula One World Championship for the Williams F1 Team."

Now read the one from 11th September on Trulli :

Team Lotus has today announced that it has extended Jarno Trulli’s contract to take the Italian into his third season with the Anglo / Malaysian squad. Jarno was first confirmed alongside Heikki Kovalainen in late 2009 and has played an integral role in the development of the team from its entry into the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship to its current position in 2011, closing the gap to the established teams ahead and laying the foundations for a long-term challenge for the ultimate Formula One honours.

Tony Fernandes, Team Lotus Team Principal, gave his thoughts on Jarno’s extended relationship with the team: “We are all delighted that we have been able to reach an agreement to keep Jarno on board for at least one more year with our team. He has shown in qualifying in Monza just how much pace he has and how he can wring every last drop of performance out of his car and since day one with us he has brought a level of professionalism, insight and raw speed to our team that has helped accelerate our development on and off track. Today’s announcement will give us the benefit of his experience and knowledge into 2012, another very important year in the growth of our team.”

Jarno added his comments, saying: “I am very pleased that we have been able to confirm today that my contract with Team Lotus has been extended into 2012. The challenge I first accepted when I joined the team is becoming more exciting every day, and I am very proud that I can keep helping the team take steps forward for at least another year. I would like to thank Tony, Kamarudin and Nasa for the chance to keep working with them, Riad, Mike and the whole team and I am looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead.”

There is no mention on "will continue to drive", "will race", "will contest" or something like that. Its a common secret that F1 contracts are vague and money rules nowadays. Trulli is always commenting and telling that he has a concrete contract. We agree … he has a contract. In order to get him out, someone should buy this out. The more concrete, the more money it needs to break. Its also no secret that Ricciardo was also heading for that seat, he told that himself. So all his comments are about "I want more money to leave" … All this to whoever is interested (Petrov is …)
